At Revolution Robotics, “the environment” isn’t just some advertising buzz word. We are constantly putting time into research, finding ways in which we can make a real difference. We believe that the biggest difference we can make is to share our knowledge. As a new startup, our ability to impact this world is small, limited at best. But by sharing what we discover, we hope to encourage others to follow in our footsteps so that everyone can partake in this global responsibility. Every small step makes a difference.
The RoHS Commitment
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is the European Union’s directive on the restriction of hazardous substances in the manufacturing of electronics. The basic premise for RoHS is that certain chemicals and heavy metals are harmful to the environment and living creatures. Therefore the directive places strict restrictions on the usage of these substances in the manufacturing of electronics. The six materials restricted by the RoHS directive are: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs, and PBDE. The latter two are flame retardants used in many plastics. Limiting the usage of these materials helps to reduce these substances from ever becoming toxic waste.
The RoHS logo displayed on many of our products indicates Revolution Robotics’ commitment to the RoHS directive. These products that carry the logo are manufactured using a specialized process limiting the usage of these hazardous materials. Conforming to these exacting standards ensures that our products are an environmentally friendly solution.
Saving Energy, milliwatts at a time.
Scalable energy solutions and ultra low voltage components are among the advancements in our industry that help combat excess energy consumption. These lower voltage electronics achieve similar functionality and performance with only a fraction of the total energy consumption, and Revolution Robotics takes advantage of this in many of our products. Scalable energy refers to the reduction of energy consumption while idling. This essentially puts the device to sleep when its not working, saving valuable energy.
